RSSI stands for Received Signal Strength Indicator. It measures the strength of a wireless signal between your device (such as a fixture or gateway) and the network it's connected to.
RSSI is typically expressed as a negative number—the closer the number is to zero, the stronger the signal.
General RSSI Range Guidelines:
-
-30 to -50 dBm: Excellent signal
-
-51 to -65 dBm: Good signal, stable connection
-
-66 to -75 dBm: Fair signal, may experience minor issues
-
-76 to -90 dBm: Weak signal, likely to cause connectivity problems
-
Below -90 dBm: Very poor or unusable connection
For reliable performance, especially in mesh networks like WAC-Mesh, it's recommended to maintain an RSSI of -65 dBm or better between devices and gateways.
You can check the RSSI for your devices in the Network Status section of the MyWAC app.
