Why does my fan not spin properly when there are no blades installed?

WAC Smart Fans require all blades to be installed and securely tightened in order to test the operation of the fan. Due to safety purposes, the fan will attempt to spin, but may stop if it detects that not all blades are properly installed or if blades are missing from the installation.
